Yvonne M. (Blanchard) Mitko, 68, of Gardner, died peacefully Sunday, February 3, 2019 in her residence surrounded by family, following a long courageous battle with carcinoid cancer.
Yvonne was born in St. Louis de Kent, NB Canada on March 11, 1950, the daughter of the late John B. and Bertha M. Blanchard.
She graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1969. Yvonne was employed in the assembly department of Simplex Time Recorder for many years.
She was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner.
Yvonne was a wonderful chef, who also enjoyed baking and picking berries to make homemade jam. She loved to travel and had traveled to numerous places over the years, including Hawaii. Yvonne enjoyed playing Bingo, spending time at Foxwoods, and clothes shopping with her sisters. She treasured spending time with her family, and she adored her three cats ‘Midnight’, ‘Pumpkin’ and ‘Big Boy’. Yvonne had a heart of gold, and always went above and beyond for the local nursing home residents whom she visited frequently. Yvonne was a special woman who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Yvonne leaves her husband of 45 years, Leonard Mitko, Jr. of Gardner; sisters, Doris M. Craigue and her husband William of Leominster, Cindy M. Bundy and her husband Gabriel of Gardner, and Betty Ann Laliberte and her husband Roger of Gardner; brothers, Alyre Blanchard and his wife Patty of Westminster, Vincent J. Blanchard of Gardner, and Vernon Guimond and his wife Rose May of Bouctouche, NB Canada; Godchild, Matthew Bundy; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 8th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 12:00 p.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held Friday, February 8th from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
