Yvonne M. (Couture) Fontaine, 87, of 58 May St., North Andover and formerly of Gardner, died Saturday, December 18th in Lawrence General Hospital, Lawrence following an illness.
Born in Freislisburg, Quebec, Canada on March 13, 1917, she was the daughter of Adelard and Rose Alma (Dragon) Couture.
She was a cashier employed by the former City Market of Gardner for several years, retiring in 1982. She was an upholsterer previously employed by Fontaine Brothers of Gardner.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church and its Ladies of St. Anne Society. She was also a member of St. Michael's Church in North Andover.
Mrs. Fontaine enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family and was known as an immaculate housekeeper.
Her husband of 45 years, Joseph Fontaine, died in 1980.
She leaves 2 sons, Raymond G. Fontaine and wife Madeline of North Andover, Rene A. Fontaine and wife Charlene of Puntagorda, FL; 1 daughter, Theresa A. Batchelder and husband John of Holland, VT; 2 sisters, Simonne Sylvester of Enosburg Falls, VT and Margaret Holt of Sedalia, MO; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son Richard J. Fontaine of Gardner, 4 brothers, Nelson Couture of Franklin, VT, Robert Couture of Enosburg, VT, Joseph and Maurice Couture both of Gardner, a sister Bernadette Cyr of Templeton and 2 grandsons.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 22nd from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday, December 21st from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made toward Mass in her memory.
