Yvon T. Richard, 102, of Concord, NH, formerly of Gardner, died peacefully Thursday, March 7, 2024, in Hillsborough County Nursing Home, Goffstown, NH, after a period of declining health.
Born in Memramcook, New Brunswick, Canada, on October 16, 1921, he was the son of the late Camille and Alvina (Belliveau) Richard. Yvon proudly served in the Canadian Army during World War II, served in France and Germany before immigrating to the United States in 1948, becoming a naturalized citizen in 1957. He was last employed by General Electric of Fitchburg for 18 years before retiring in 1986. He was previously employed by GEM Crib & Cradles, Heywood-Wakefield Co., Mead Container, Reed & Prince Machine Shop, and Independent Lock Defense Plant. Yvon built his home on the Hubbardston/ Gardner Line where he resided for over 35 years, before moving to Concord, NH in 2015.
Yvon was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish of Gardner, practicing at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. He was the oldest current member of the Acadien Social Club of Gardner, a title he proudly owned. He was also a member of the West End Beagle Club, and guest member of the Knights of Columbus. Yvon loved to play his fiddle and guitar as well as sing, playing at various clubs in Massachusetts and New England throughout the years.
Yvon is survived by his daughter, Linda Nelson of Concord, NH; a grandchild Mark Richard of Westminster; 3 great-grandchildren, Kylie, Breanna, and Zak; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife 61 years, Dorilla M. (Fougere) Richard, who died in 2011; his son Dennis Richard, who died in 1996; and his granddaughter Lisa Ostrander, who died in April 2023.
A Calling Hour will be held Friday, March 15, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 15, 2024, from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA, with a Mass at 12:30 p.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA.
