Yvette (Valiquette) Ares, 65, of 228 Washington Street, Gardner died Thursday, February 26th in Heywood Hospital, Gardner following a long illness.
Born in Montreal, Canada on July 13, 1943, she was the daughter of Paul and Jacqueline (Laporte) Valiquette.
Yvette was a secretary employed by Heywood Hospital, Gardner for 10 years, retiring in 1986. She was previously employed by Bettez and Laroche Co. and George S. Bent Co. both of Gardner. Prior to moving to Gardner, Yvette was a secretary for the University of Montreal, Canada.
Yvette graduated from St. Anne Academy in Montreal, Canada with the Class of 1962. She later attended Mount Wachusett Community College, Gardner.
Yvette was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner. She was a member of the Gardner Museum, the Chair City Pipers, the Gardner Garden Club and was a member of the Gardner Writers Guild. Yvette was the organizer for Our Lady of the Holy Rosary's Travel Club and was involved with the Mount Wachusett Community College Life Program. Yvette enjoyed gardening.
She leaves her husband, Gardner City Councilor-At-Large, Henry P. Ares of Gardner, with whom she would have celebrated forty years of marriage on October 10, 2009.
Besides her husband, Yvette leaves her mother, Jacqueline (Laporte) Valiquette of Laval, Quebec, Canada,; one son, Frederic M. Ares and his wife Shannon of Southbridge; two sisters, Claire Dubuc and her husband Yvon of Laval, Quebec, Canada and Claude Waseleski and her husband Joseph of Irving; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 2nd from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner, at a later date.
Calling hours are Sunday, March 1st from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
