William S. Walker

October 2, 1925 — July 24, 2007

William "Bill" S. Walker, 81, of 405 Queen Lake Rd., Phillipston, died Tuesday, July 24th in Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol, following an illness.

Born in Baldwinville on October 2, 1925, he was the son of William H. and Mabel M. (Graves) Walker.

He was a sales manager employed by Temple-Stuart Co. of Baldwinville for several years until retiring in 1986. He was previously employed by Grossman's Building Supply Co. of Gardner in the sales department.

Bill was a 1942 graduate of Templeton High School and in 1947 he was an electrical department graduate of Worcester Boys Trade School.

Bill was a member of the American Legion Roger P. Warfield Post #373 of Baldwinville. He had a variety of interests including hunting, fishing, playing cards and was a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.

Mr. Walker was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and received the World War II Victory Medal, American Area Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal.

He leaves his wife of 57 years, Ruth E. (Merchant) Walker of Phillipston; 2 sons, Barry S. Walker of Phillipston, David L. Walker and his wife Trisha of Gardner; 2 daughters, Nancy A. Gelinas and her husband Robert L. of Winter Haven, FL, Diane L. Walker of Phillipston; 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces, 1 nephew and several cousins. A son, William J. Walker, died in 2004.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 27th at 11:00 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Lower Cemetery, Phillipston.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday, July 27th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
