William Saulnier

August 23, 1906 — May 6, 2005

William "Willy" Saulnier, 98, of 70 Princeton St., Gardner, died Friday, May 6th in his residence following an illness.
Born in Canada on August 23, 1906 he was the son of Maxime and Madeleine (Bastarache) Saulnier.
He was manager of the former Sav-On Heat Co. of Gardner for 15 years until retiring in 1978. He previously worked at Gardner Coal & Ice Co. of Gardner.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church.
Mr. Saulnier was founding treasurer and past president of the Acadien Social Club where he played fiddle at countless dances for area residents. He was a founding member of the Gardner Franco-American Credit Union, now called GFA. He enjoyed photography and in 1941 built their home.
His wife of 73 years, Jane M. (Bettez) Saulnier died March 10, 2005.
He leaves a daughter-in-law, Carol Saulnier of Gardner; 2 half-sisters Rita Saulnier and Jeannette Saulnier, both of Canada; 5 half-brothers, Edward, Abee, Delfice, Pierre and Alonzo all of Canada; 6 grandchildren, William Saulnier Jr. and wife Vicki, Robert Saulnier and wife Susan, Glen Saulnier and wife Sherrill, Jane E. Saulnier, Lisa Gray and Larry Helms; 6 great-grandchildren, Wendy and Heidi Saulnier, Lindsey & Logan Gray, Rae Ann Saulnier and Courtney Saulnier; 4 stepgrandchildren, Donald, John, Keith and Dennis Gray; several step-greatgrandchildren and step-great-greatgrandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, William C. Saulnier Sr., a sister Marie LeBlanc, and a half-brother Antoinne Saulnier.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 11th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday, May 10th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
