William H. French, 67, of 61 Lake St., Gardner, died Sunday, May 22nd in The Highlands of Fitchburg following a long illness.
Born in Gardner on June 18, 1937, he was the son of Leo and Loretta (Richard) French.
He was a furniture worker employed by Collier-Keyworth Co. of Gardner for several years. He was previously employed part-time at MA General Hospital, Boston and the Provincetown Inn, Cape Cod.
He was a 1956 graduate of Templeton High School and was its class president both junior and senior years. He also attended Boston School of Fine Arts.
He was a member of St. Martin's Church, Otter River. He was an active volunteer at the Crystal House. He was an accomplished artist and displayed oil paintings in the Fitchburg and Worcester Art Shows where he received many awards. Two of his oil paintings will be donated in his memory, in particular "The Holy Family".
He leaves 3 sisters, Eva M. Yakuben and husband Gerald of Jensen Beach, FL, Priscilla H. Piette and husband Gerard of Lakeland, FL, Marie Ann Quader of Gardner; 1 niece Robin L. (Yakuben) Cyr of Apex, NC; 3 nephews, Mark Rouchleau, Jason G. Quader both of Fitchburg and Randy Yakuben of Templeton; a grandniece Crystal Swartz, 1 grandnephew Joshua R. Yakuben and a great-grandnephew Tyler Swartz.
A Memorial Mass in St. Martin's Church, Otter River, will be held at a later date. Burial of cremains will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
