Wilfred "Willy" J. St.Jean, 79, of 27 Ridgewood Lane, Gardner died peacefully Saturday, April 10th in Heywood Hospital, Gardner following a long illness.
Born in Gardner on November 5, 1930, he was the son of the late Wilfred J. and Edna (Legere) St.Jean.
Wilfred was a truck driver employed by Oakley Transportation of Lake Wales, FL for fourteen years, retiring in 1997. He was previously a self-employed truck driver.
Wilfred graduated from Gardner High School, Gardner with the Class of 1948.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Gardner. Wilfred was also a member of the Western Pennsylvania Teamsters Union Local #30.
Wilfred was a Korean War U.S. Army Veteran, and received the United Nations Service Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal (Japan) and the Korean Service Medal.
He was an avid fan of jigsaw puzzles and the Boston Red Sox. Wilfred also enjoyed reading.
He leaves his wife of 54 years, Patricia A. (Franck) St.Jean of Gardner; one son, Joseph St.Jean of Boca Raton, FL; two daughters, Linda M. Taylor and her husband of Richard of Colorado Springs, CO and Donna M. Thibault and her husband David of Union, CT; one brother, Paul A. St.Jean and his wife Pegg of Bradenton, FL; five grandchildren, Corinne Hanson, Caitlin Taylor, Joanne Thibault, Jessica Thibault and Joseph Thibault; a special nephew, Mark Norton of Winthrop, MA; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother, George St.Jean and by two sisters, M. Elaine St.Jean and M. Dianne McDonald.
Funeral services and burial will be private, and held at the convenience of the family.
