Wayne J. Richard, 61, of Phillipston, died peacefully Monday, March 10, 2025, in his home surrounded by family after an illness.
Born in Gardner on March 30, 1963, he was the son of the late Herve and Anna M. (Drouin) Richard. He graduated from Narragansett Regional High School with the Class of 1981 and received his associate degree from Worcester Polytechnical Institute in 1983. Wayne was a civil engineer for bridge construction for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation for 15 years prior to his death.
Wayne was a member of the Snowbound Club of Winchendon, the Baldwinville American Legion, and a former member of the Lodge of Elks. He was active within his local community of Phillipston, serving on the town planning board for many years and coaching girls' softball and boys' baseball. Wayne received Phillipston's Citizen of the Year for restoring the town ballfields. He was a self-taught builder who was never afraid to take on a project, regardless of size. Wayne enjoyed being outdoors, playing golf, snowmobiling, ice fishing, camping, and going for motorcycle rides on his Harley-Davidson. He also enjoyed playing darts and shooting pool. Wayne's greatest enjoyment was his "framily" (as he would say) entertaining them with his dad jokes and his witty personality, of which they will all greatly miss.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kimberly A (Pouliot) Richard of Phillipston; a son, Graeme J. Richard of Phillipston; a daughter, Alexandria J. Menard and her husband Zachary of Phillipston; and a grandchild, Everett Menard.
A Celebration of Wayne’s Life will be held and announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or on their website at (www.stjude.org). Please reference in memory of Wayne J. Richard.
