Wayne A. Hanks

Wayne A. Hanks, 68, of 71 Lake Street, Gardner died peacefully Wednesday, January 14th in Heywood Hospital following a brief illness.

Born in Gardner on May 11, 1940, he was the son of the late Leon and Doris (Boisse) Hanks.

Wayne was a self-employed painter for many years, retiring in 1990.

He attended Gardner High School, Gardner. Wayne was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, Gardner. He was also a member of the Gardner Fish and Gun Club and Club 25 of Gardner. He was a former member of the Army National Guard.

Wayne enjoyed fishing, shrimping and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox.

He leaves one son, David A. Bushee of Gardner; three brothers, Richard Hanks of North Port, FL, Kenneth Hanks and his wife Anita of Gardner and Edward Hanks and his wife Debra of Gardner; two sisters, Janice Farnsworth of Gardner and Nancy Clavette and her husband Fern of Gardner; three grandchildren, Johnny Bushee, Jr and Kelsey Bushee of South Royalston and Rebecca Lynn Bushee of Ocala, Fl; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Johnny A. Bushee who died in 1999; and by one brother Francis Hanks.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 17th at 11:00 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Rev. Andre Dargis of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, Gardner will officiate. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery at a later date.

Calling hours in the funeral home will be Saturday, January 17th from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
