Walter Mitchell Sr.

Walter Mitchell Sr., 79, of Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday, November 14, 2023, in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, after a period of declining health.

Born in Gardner on May 21, 1944, he was the son of the late James H. Mitchell. He graduated from Oakmont Regional High School with the Class of 1962. Walter was a railroad worker employed by B&M Railroad for several years before his retirement.

Walter was an avid outdoorsman who loved to go hunting and fishing always looking for the next big prize.

Walter is survived by his son, Walter Mitchell Jr. of Gardner; two daughters, Pamela Crichton and her husband Joe St. Hilaire of Ormond Beach, FL and Cheryl Mitchell of Florida; seven grandchildren, many siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins.
