Walter J. "Sunny" Guitare, 74, of 40 Midway Drive, Moncton, N.B. Canada, died peacefully Friday, April 17th in the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton, N.B. Canada, following a long battle with cancer.
Born in St. John, N.B. Canada on August 23, 1934, he was the son of the late Simon and Brigitte (Daigle) Guitare.
Walter was employed by Garbose Brothers of Gardner for many years, retiring in 1996.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner and St. Antoine Church, St. Antoine, N.B. Canada.
Walter enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. He liked to watch old movies, especially those with John Wayne. He will be remembered always for his special craving for apples.
Walter leaves his wife of 57 years, Doris M. (Cormier) Guitare, of Moncton, N.B. Canada; six sons, Roger W. Guitare and his wife Nancy of Gardner, Leo Guitare and his special friend Lisa of Athol, Ernie Guitare of Moncton, N.B. Canada, Ronald Guitare and his wife Brenda of Nova Scotia, Canada, Paul Guitare of Moncton, N.B. Canada, Norman Guitare of Ontario, Canada; two daughters, Carol Guitare of Gilbertville, MA and Lisa Richard and her husband Eric of Pittsfield, NH; one brother, Douglas Guitare and his wife Alice of Prince Edward, Canada; three sisters, Eileen Ward of St. Johns, N.B. Canada, Doreen Cormier of Moncton, N.B. Canada, and Cecile Guitare of St. Johns, N.B. Canada; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph, Henry and Leonard Guitare; and by two sisters, Theresa and Melvina Guitare.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at a later date in Saint Antoine L'Ermite Cemetery, Saint Antoine, N.B. Canada.
