Walter A. Fiore, 66, of Leominster died peacefully, Friday, March 22, 2013 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, 55 Lake Avenue North, Worcester, surrounded by his loving family, following an illness.
Born in Montevideo, Uruguay on July 12, 1946, he was the son of the late Felix Antonio and Andrea (Alonso) Fiore.
Walter owned and operated Fiore Construction Company, Inc., Fiore Trucking Recycle and Disposal, Inc., Fitchburg Recycle and Salvage Center, Inc. and Rydemore Heavy Duty Truck Parts, Inc., all of Fitchburg. He also owned Capelli's Unisex Salon of Leominster, and was the former owner of Ristorante Cappuccino of Leominster, which was established in 1987.
Walter enjoyed gardening, cooking, singing and entertaining. He was a hardworking, hospitable man who was a mentor to many people.
In 1985 he became a member of the Italian-American Cultural Center of Leominster, and he was a member of the Utility Contractors Association.
Walter leaves his wife, Karen Stropparo of Leominster; one son, Alberto C. Fiore of Leominster; one daughter, Sofia Fiore of Miami, FL; one brother, Carlos Fiore and his wife Stella of Orlando, FL; two sisters, Beatriz Di Silva and her husband Nelson of Uruguay and Pilar Escondeur and her husband Jorge of Uruguay; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Nicola Fiore.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 30th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Service at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner at a later date.
Calling hours will be held Friday, March 29th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
