Wallace C. "Wally" Suchocki, 78, of Gardner died peacefully Saturday, April 23, 2011 in the Hyder Family Hospice House, Dover, NH, surrounded by his family.
Born in Gardner on April 11, 1933, he was the son of the late Walter and Amelia (Farrick) Suchocki.
Wally graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1951, and later attended Worcester Boys Trade School.
Prior to retiring in 1993, Wally was a Plumber employed by North Central Correctional Institution in Gardner for 10 years. He was previously employed by Royal Steam Heater of Gardner. He was a fifty-year Life Member of the United Association of the Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of the United States and Canada. He was also a member of the Worcester County Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 4 Union.
Wally was a United States Korean War Army Veteran. He was stationed in Garmisch, Germany, and served as a member of the ski patrol in the German Alps. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the OCC Medal Germany.
Wally was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in
Gardner. He was a member of the VFW Ovila Case Post 905 of Gardner and the American Legion Post 129 of Gardner.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying many hours with friends and family outdoors. He was an avid fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox.
Wally was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Marie E. (Doiron) Suchocki who died June 27, 2009.
He leaves one daughter, Cindy L. Anderholm of Dover, NH; two sons, Glenn R. Suchocki and his wife Amy of Rye, NH and Scott R. Suchocki of Delrio, TX; his extended family, York R. Glovins of Presque Isle, ME, Keith R. Glovins of Tokyo, Japan and Colleen A. Casey of Walnut Creek, CA; one sister, Theresa Godin of Fitchburg, MA; five grandchildren, Erika L. Anderholm of Kingston, NH, Ashley M. Anderholm of Durham, NC, Evan G. Anderholm of Bristol, CT, Abigail B. Suchocki Rye, NH and Zack O. Suchocki of Del Rio, TX; one nephew, William B. Godin and several cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 28th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Road, Winchendon, MA.
Calling hours in the funeral home are Wednesday, April 27th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
