Vincent J. "Casey" "Dave" Surette, 92, of Coleman Street Gardner, where he had lived for 52 years and formerly of Stoneham, died peacefully Wednesday, March 20, 2013, in his residence, following an illness. He went to be re-united with his wife of 62 years on her birthday.
Born in Nova Scotia, Canada on March 3, 1921, he was the son of Sylvan and Delia (Burdine) Surette.
He served in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Kodiak, Alaska during World War II. He was a crane operator at Garbose Metal Company of Gardner for over 25 years, retiring in 1983. He also worked at Gardner Creamery and Heywood Wakefield Company, both of Gardner.
Vincent was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner. He loved spending time with "his girls", daughter Kathy and granddaughter Amy. He loved birds; and watching Catholic TV and cooking shows daily.
He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years Barbara (Dulong) Surette. He leaves a daughter, Kathy A. Boucher and her husband Albert who he thought of as a son, of Gardner; one granddaughter, Amy L. Boucher of Gardner; two sisters, Gertrude Cough of Lyman, ME and Bernadine Doran of Reading, MA; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 25th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
A calling hour will be Monday, March 25th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
