Vincent "Vinney"A. Amato, Jr., 73, of 22 Winslow St., Gardner died Sunday, January 23rd in his residence surrounded by his loving bride and family.
Born in Springfield on January 3, 1932, he was the son of Vincent A. and Anna (Mercolino) Amato.
He was a Culinary Arts Teacher at Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School, Fitchburg for 20 years until retiring in 1992. He formerly owned and operated Vince's Steak & Lobster of Gardner from 1960 to 1971 and previously worked at various restaurants from 1948 to 1960.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Fitchburg State College in 1975.
Mr. Amato was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. He was a member of the Gardner Lions Club, Napoleon Club, Monty Tech Teachers Association, MASS Teachers Association and past president of the Gardner Exchange Club.
He was an enthusiastic motorcyclist and enjoyed bowling, golfing, traveling and cooking.
He leaves his wife of 42 years, Constance T. (Dion) Amato of Gardner; 1 son, Christopher J. Amato of Manchester, NH; 2 daughters, Lucinda A. Amato and Cheryl Amato both of Everett; 1 sister, Veronica Amato of Athol; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 27th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner at a later date.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday, January 27th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
