Victor J."Vic" Cormier
July 17, 1919 — August 11, 2008
Victor J. "Vic" Cormier, 89, of 125 Connors Street, Gardner, formerly of 16 Metcalf Street, Gardner, died Monday, August 11th in Heywood Hospital, Gardner surrounded by his family, following a brief illness.
Born in Gardner of July 17, 1919, he was the son of the late Dosithe and Emma (Melanson) Cormier.
Vic was employed by Nichols & Stone Co. of Gardner as a nash sander for 31 years, retiring in 1984.
Vic was a member of Holy Spirit Church, Gardner. He was a member of the Gardner Golden Agers.
Vic was an extremely gifted musician. He played the bass fiddle with the Ziggy Wagner Orchestra and the Rudy Nesman Orchestra for 32 years. Music made him smile. Vic will be remembered as being a very giving person.
He leaves his loving wife with whom he would have celebrated 68 years of marriage August 24th, Irene I. (Allard) Cormier of Gardner; one son, Steven V. Cormier and his wife Janice of Ellington, CT; two daughters, Suzanne Charland and her significant other Ronald Ahlstrom of Gardner, and Jayne Hallock and her husband Peter of Gardner; one brother, Donald Cormier and his wife Sally of Gardner; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Sylvia Robichaud of Gardner.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 15th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour in the funeral home will be Friday, August 15th from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Activity Fund, 32 Hospital Hill Road, Gardner, MA 01440.
