Vernon R. J. Goguen, 73, of Shediac, N.B., Canada, and formerly of Gardner, died unexpectedly Wednesday, January 12th in Shediac.
Born in Moncton, N.B., Canada on September 9, 1937, he was the son of Rene and Georgianna (Bourque) Goguen.
While in Gardner he was a truck driver employed by Goguen Transportation Co. and was a maintenance worker previously employed at Timpany Plaza.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner.
He enjoyed weightlifting, walking, gardening, traveling and was a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox. Mr. Goguen was a championship middleweight boxer.
He was predeceased by his wife of 15 years, Diane L. (Arsenault) Goguen.
Vernon leaves a son, Michael Goguen of Orange; 3 daughters, Debbie Goguen of Michigan, Cynthia A. Goguen - Abare and her husband Christopher, Laura E. Goguen - Griffith and her husband Michael all of Athol, 3 stepdaughters, Donna Padgett of Ashburnham, Linda Lapointe of Clinton and Christina Maez of California;
several aunts, uncles, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 29th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Saturday, January 29th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
