Veikko Tiihonen

Veikko W. "Vic" Tiihonen, 92, of 56 Crescent Rd., Gardner, died Friday, March 9th in the Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner, following a long illness.
Born in Gardner on December 13, 1914, he was the son of William and Hilda (Kuula) Tiihonen.
He was employed in the Accounting Department of S. Bent Co. of Gardner for 12 years, retiring in 1982. He was previously employed as manager in the Payroll and Personnel Department of the former Heywood-Wakefield Co. of Gardner for 42 years.
Mr. Tiihonen was a 1933 graduate of Gardner High School and in 1935 he graduated from Becker Junior College, Worcester.
Vic was a member of the Covenant Lutheran Church, sang in its choir and served on the Finance Committee. He was president of the Heywood Wakefield Social Club for several years. He was Chairperson of his High School Reunion, was on the Gardner Men's Golf League for 8 years and was Golf Champion at which time he hit a Hole-In-One. Vic was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 747 of Gardner.
He leaves his wife of 60 years, Annette T. (Trinque) Tiihonen of Gardner; 2 nephews and several cousins. He was predeceased by 2 sisters, Velma Laitinen and Vera Koski.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 13th at 11:00 a.m. in the Covenant Lutheran Church, 629 Green Street, Gardner. Pastor Scott Grimshaw will officiate. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour at Covenant Lutheran Church will be Tuesday, March 13th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
