Ulysse J. Cormier, 93, of Gardner, died peacefully Wednesday, October 23, 2024, in Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, after a period of declining health with his family by his side.
Born in Sainte-Marie, New Brunswick, Canada, on March 26, 1931, he was the son of the late Joseph and Madeline (LeBlanc) Cormier. Ulysse was a siding installer employed by LeBlanc and McCaie of Gardner for many years prior to his retirement in 1993. He was previously employed by Walter Maki’s of Lunenburg.
Ulysse was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish of Gardner practicing at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. He was a member of the Acadien Social Club of Gardner. Ulysse loved watching hockey supporting the rival teams, Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens. He enjoyed working around his house and traveling. Ulysse’s greatest joy was his family, treasuring time spent with them.
Ulysse is survived by his wife of 74 years, Therese M. (LeBlanc) Cormier of Gardner; three sons, Gerard Cormier and his wife Donna of Tampa, FL, Oscar Cormier and his wife Pauline of Hubbardston, and Roger Cormier and his wife Carol of Gardner; a daughter, Anita Hubbard and her husband Leonard of North Hampton, NH; four grandchildren, Kyle Cormier, Sarah Hursey, Angel Melanson and Heather Walders; five great-grandchildren, Liam Walders, Trenton and Marissa Hursey, Eric Vorce and Patricia Melanson; a brother Val Cormier and his wife Denise of Gardner; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a son, Norman Cormier; two brothers, J. Yvon and Oris Cormier and a sister, Imelda LeBlanc.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 31, 2024, from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA, with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA.
Calling Hours will be held Thursday, October 31, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Please reference in memory of Ulysse J. Cormier.
