Thomas J. Zebrowski, 89, of 84 Fairlawn Ave, Gardner, died peacefully
Thursday, June 27th in his residence.
Born in Gardner on September 16, 1923, he was the son of Joseph and Adelia (Kowaleski) Zebrowski.
He was a Field Agent Auditor employed by the I.R.S. for 30 years until retiring in 1984.
He was a 1941 graduate of Gardner High School. He graduated from the New England School of Accounting.
Tom was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Gardner.
He was a national member of the American Ex- Prisoners of War, Polish American Veterans of Greater Gardner, V.F.W. Ovila Case Post 905 of Gardner, American Legion Post 129 of Gardner, and the Retired State County & Municipal Employees Association.
Mr. Zebrowski was a Little League Coach for many years and was an excellent swimmer during his high school years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching sports, especially basketball, the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.
He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and an ex-POW. He served in Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He received the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon. He was wounded during the Battle of the Bulge and was survivor of the Holocaust slave labor camp of Berga.
His wife of 56 years, Marcella R. (Bernier) Zebrowski, died in 2002.
He leaves a son, Thomas M. Zebrowski and his fiancée Mayline S. Ochavez of Gardner, and several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by 2 sisters, Lucy Renes and Rose DuBose.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 1, from the Boucher Funeral Home, 110 Nichols St. Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 358 Pleasant St., Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday, July 1st from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
