Thomas D. Simkewicz, 92, of 32 Hospital Hill Rd., Gardner and formerly of 25 Way St., Gardner, died Saturday, July 28th in the Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner, following a short illness.
Born in Monson on December 8, 1914, he was the son of Thomas and Saraphina (Tiskevich) Simkewicz.
Tom was an engraver employed by Simplex Time Recorder Co. of Gardner for 31 years until retiring in 1980.
He was member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, sang in its choir and also sang in St. Edward the Confessor Church's choir. He was a member of V.F.W. Ovila Case Post 905 of Gardner.
Mr. Simkewicz was a W.W. II U.S. Army veteran and served from 1938 to 1945.
His wife of 59 years, Doris C. (Rousseau) Simkewicz, died in 2005.
He leaves a daughter, Gail Simkewicz of Sedona, AZ; a sister, Mary Moore of Hubbardston; 2 step-sons, Raymond Stewart of Rutland and Alan Stewart and his wife Jean-Marie of Sevierville, TN; 6 stepgrandchildren, 6 step-greatgrandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Joseph and Frank Simkewicz and 2 sistersViola Defriest and Ann Regan.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 1st at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross St., Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
