Thomas J. "Pop" Mullarney, 79, of 48 Madison Way, Hubbardston died peacefully Tuesday, February 1, 2011 in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner following a long illness.
Thomas was born in Jersey City, NJ on September 28, 1931, the son of the late Thomas J. and Anna (Porcelli) Mullarney.
He graduated from Dickinson High School and attended Draftsman School in Jersey City, NJ.
Prior to retiring in 1995, he was owner/operator of Jack's Exxon in Jersey City, NJ for 34 years. He was previously employed by Erie-Lackawanna Railroad in Hoboken, NJ.
Thomas was a United States Marine Corps Korean War Veteran.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 80 of Island Pond, VT.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Thomas leaves his wife of 31 years, Rachel (Catalano) Mullarney of Hubbardston; three sons, Thomas J. Mullarney and his wife Judy of Montclair, NJ, Brian J. Mullarney and his wife Sheila of Easthampton, MA and Kenneth L. Mullarney and his wife Renee of Beachwood, NJ; one daughter, Nancy Macchia of Boston, MA; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral Services and burial will be held at a later date in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA.
