Thomas R. "Grampa Bing" Morgan, 79, of 139 Ash Street, Gardner, died peacefully, Tuesday, February 11, 2014 in his residence surrounded by family, following a long illness.
Thomas was born in Gardner on June 12, 1934, the son of the late Marion (Dupre) Montville.
He was employed by Simplex Time Recorder of Gardner as a machinist for several years, retiring in 1996. He was previously employed by Mead Container Company of Gardner and was the custodian of Sacred Heart Parish of Gardner.
Thomas attended Saxon Trade High School of Leominster. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church of Gardner.
Thomas enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking, blueberry picking, cooking fiddle heads and walking in the woods with his son Charlee and his dogs. He also enjoyed watching television; especially Western movies, sports and the History Channel. Thomas loved spending time at McDonald's Restaurant with his 'Social Club" and traveling to Alaska to visit family. His family was the most important aspect of his life.
He leaves his wife of 54 years, Mary J. (Borey) Morgan of Gardner; one son, Charles A. Morgan and his wife Janice of Gardner; two daughters Susan M. Girard and her husband Joel of Gardner and Lisa S. Morgan of Fitchburg; one brother, Leonard Montville of Gardner; six grandchildren, Eric Girard and his wife Doris of North Pole, Alaska, Chad Girard and his wife Dawn of Athol, Heather Bassett and her husband Craig of Orange, Alysia (Morgan) O'Brien and her husband Daniel of Milton, Cailyn Morgan and her fiancé Patrick White of Phillipston and Carissa Morgan of Fitchburg; five great-grandchildren, Kaden, Rania, Logan and Nicolas Girard and Colin O'Brien. He was predeceased by two brothers, Paul Montville and Ralph Morgan.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, February 17th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 2:30 p.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour in the funeral home will be Monday, February 17th from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
