Thomas Brodeur

Thomas Brodeur, 84, of Hubbardston, died peacefully Friday, January 31, 2025, in UMass Memorial Medical Center—University Campus, Worcester, after an illness.

Born in Gardner on December 12, 1940, he was the son of the late Ernest and Mary C. (Buckley) Brodeur. He graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1958. Following graduation, Tom enlisted in the United States Coast Guard, serving from 1958 to 1962, where he received the Good Conduct Medal. He later received his certificate as a licensed practical nurse from Montachusett Regional Vocational High School in 1975. Tom worked as an LPN for 26 years, where he was employed by Heywood Hospital, retiring in 2001. He was also employed as an EMT by Wood’s Ambulance for several years. 

Tom was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish of Gardner, practicing at its Holy Spirit Chapel. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus #396 of Gardner and a member of the Gardner Museum and served on the Board of Directors for North Central Human Services. He was an avid photographer and reader and also loved to go on cruises. Tom’s greatest joy was found with his family and friends, treasuring the time spent together, especially going for coffee with the “boys.”

Tom is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lorraine C. (Richard) Brodeur; a brother, Douglas Brodeur of Fitchburg; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Rosemary Brodeur. 

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, February 11, 2025, with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Holy Spirit Chapel, 50 Lovewell Street, Gardner, MA. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA. 

Calling Hours will be held Monday, February 10, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
