Theresa M. LaChance passed peacefully on June 1, 2017 with her family at her bedside and is now re-united with her husband, Leo.
Theresa was born on June 27, 1923 in Fort Kent, Maine to the late Josephel Bouthot and Clarise Landry. She married Leo on January 6, 1942 and shortly thereafter they moved to Gardner which has been their home for the past 75 years.
She was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. Theresa was also a member of The Royal Palm Golf Course, Boca Raton, FL. and Oak Hill Golf Course, Fitchburg, MA.
Theresa loved her winters in Boca Raton, FL, where she played cribbage and golf with her friends. She also loved music, dancing, and flowers. Her fondest times in her life were when she was with her family. Leo and Theresa were very active in the Greater Gardner community and have often been noted for their philanthropy to local institutions and groups. Theresa stayed in the giving mode even after Leo's death in 2008 such as helping to raise funds for Heywood Hospital and the Fernald School. She was, and remains the loving matriarchal core of the family.
Theresa was predeceased by her husband Leo, son-in-law, Richard Rouisse, and by all her siblings; four brothers, Reno, Carl, Thomas, and Norman Bouthot; and eight sisters, Marguerite Guy, Patricia Dagenais, Claudette Albert, Florence Bachand, Pearl Gallery, Marie Ann Bassard, Dorilda LaChance, and Lourd Bouthot. She is survived by her four children Paula Donovan and her husband Richard of Coral Gables, FL, Donna Rouisse of Amherst, MA, Kenneth LaChance of Templeton, MA and Nicolle LaChance of Gardner, MA. as well as her grandchildren Rick Donovan, Mike Donovan, Steven Rouisse, Scott Rouisse and Julie Pogoda; eight great grandchildren, Brandon Candelaria, Kayla Pagoda, Brooke Pagoda, Racquel Pagoda, Sophia Rouisse, Serena Rouisse, Yaela Rouisse, and Taegan Rouisse; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to acknowledge the people who provided loving care and support to Theresa in her final years, namely Stanley Cyr and his Mother Cecil, Debbie Conrad, Irene Pervier, Diane Ballweg and Aaron Cunningham. Theresa loved these people.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 5, 2017 from Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St. Gardner with a Mass at 12:00 p.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner at a later date.
Calling hours will be held Monday, June 5, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
