Sylvio F. Comeau, 70, of 109 Sand Street, Gardner, died peacefully Sunday, February 24, 2013 in his home surrounded by family, following a brief illness.
Sylvio was born in Chipman, N.B. Canada on August 30, 1942, the son of the late Sylvain and Annie (Richard) Comeau.
He served in the Canadian Army from 1961 through 1964.
Sylvio was a carpenter employed by George Ouellet Construction of Gardner for several years, until becoming ill. He was previously employed by C & W Fabricators Corporation of Gardner.
Sylvio was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Gardner.
He was also a member of the Acadien Social Club, the Deep Sea Club, the Beagle Club and the Knights of Columbus, Council 396 all of Gardner.
Sylvio enjoyed fishing, hunting, ice hockey and golf. He enjoyed socializing with friends at the Acadien Social Club, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Sandra L. (Morse) Comeau of Gardner; three sons, Randy A. Comeau and his wife Lisa of Gardner, Robby J. Comeau and his girlfriend Nicole of Fitchburg and Reggie A. Comeau of Gardner; two daughters, Rhonda L. Comeau and her significant other Steven of Gardner and Rose Marie Comeau of Gardner; three brothers, Omer Comeau of Winchendon, Ovila Comeau and his significant other Tina of Gardner and Alvin Comeau and his wife Tammy of PA; ten grandchildren, Christian Comeau, Alyson Comeau, Zachary Comeau, Alexis Phillips, Dale Phillips, Codie Comeau, Tyler Comeau, Brianna Comeau, Eric Gibson and Alyssa Gibson; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one son, Ricky S. Comeau who died in 1993 and by two brothers, Raymond and Jean Paul Comeau.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, February 28th at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner is handling the arrangements.
