Susanna A Favreau

August 11, 1928 — January 23, 2015

After years of declining health, Susanna Anna (Chojnacki) Favreau, 86, passed away Friday afternoon January 23, at her Gardner residence surrounded by her family.
Susanna was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin the daughter of Alois and Catherine (Oleczwski) Chojnacki. As a teenager, the family moved to Gardner and she graduated from Gardner High School in 1947. She married Leonard Edmond Favreau on May 21, 1949. They raised two children in South Gardner, a daughter and son, with Sue doing office work at home for her husband's business. Later Susanna spent 15 years as a bookkeeper for the Collier-Keyworth Company of Gardner. After her retirement she continued working part-time for the Keyworth family.
Susanna enjoyed gardening, bird watching, quilting, Swedish weaving and oil painting. When her children were young the family enjoyed skiing at Mt. Wachusett and sailing off Cape Cod. In 1973 while on vacation, the family was in a terrible car crash where her husband was killed and her son received a life altering head injury.
She is survived by her daughter Catherine and her husband, Raymond Komow and their two children Lenny and Tom Komow, as well as her son William Favreau all of Chelmsford, Massachusetts. In addition, she is survived by her sister and lifelong friend, Veronica Martel and her husband Dr. Charles E. Martel, as well as by several nieces and nephews scattered throughout the country.
There are no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday
January 31, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Spirit Church, 50 Lovewell Street, Gardner. A private burial will be held in the summer. In lieu of flowers the family requests that any contributions be made to Crotched Mountain Foundation, One Verney Drive, Greenfield, NH 03047 or the activities fund at Heywood Wakefield Commons, 50 Pine Street, Gardner, MA 01440. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Heywood Wakefield Commons for their kindness and compassion.
