Stephanie R. (Rudzinski) Cosgrove, 82, formerly of 100 Emerald St., Gardner, died Monday, February 22, 2010 in Sterling Health Care Center, Sterling, following a long illness.
Born in Gardner on April 11, 1927, she was the daughter of Victor and Rozalia (Jankowski) Rudzinski.
She was a Medical Records Librarian employed by the Glavin Regional Center of the Massachusett Department of Mental Health in Shrewsbury over 25 years until retiring in 1989. She previously worked at Rutland Heights Public Health Hospital and the former Gardner State Hospital.
Stephanie was a 1945 graduate of Gardner High School and in 1947 she received her Associates Degree in Business from Becker Jr. College in Worcester.
Mrs. Cosgrove was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Gardner and its Holy Rosary Sodality. She demonstrated her strong Catholic faith in her daily living and when she was physically able to, she attended the Marie Rivier Adoration Chapel of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. She was also a member of the Polish American Social League, Polish American Veterans Auxilliary and Massachusett Medical Records Association.
She volunteered at the Gardner Police Department in the early 1990's for approximately 10 years. Mrs. Cosgrove took much pride in her houseplants and enjoyed reading, sewing, tending to her pets, theatre, music, bowling and traveling.
She leaves one son, David W. Cosgrove and his wife Janet R. of Sterling; 1 daughter, Phyllis M. Ambrozewicz and her husband John D. of Gardner; 1 grandson, Joshua A. Cosgrove of Sterling, a granddaughter, Pamela D. Nadeau of Holden; a greatgranddaughter, Elizabeth Nadeau of Holden; 2 nieces, Linda Hart of Florida, Dorothy Miller of Hingham and several cousins. She was predeceased by a sister, Anne Hancock of Florida.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 26th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 358 Pleasant St., Gardner. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday, February 25th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
