Stavros "Steve" Moutsos, 79, of 330 West Street, Gardner, who formerly resided at 177 Elm Street, Gardner for 48 years, died peacefully Wednesday, July 23, 2014, in his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born in Greece on November 2, 1934, the son of the late George and Vasiliki (Birbili) Moutsos.
Stavros was owner/operator of Paramount Café of Gardner for 55 years; he loved working and treated his customers as family.
He enjoyed sports, and traveling; especially to Las Vegas and Atlantic City. He always looked forward to spending time with family in Greece. Stavros was a generous, kind man and will be missed by many.
Stavros was a member of the Elks Lodge 1426 of Gardner and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 747 of Gardner.
He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Mary S. (Exarchos) Moutsos, who died September 26, 2004.
He leaves two sons, George S. Moutsos and his wife Jeanelle of Sanford, Maine and Peter S. Moutsos and his wife Patricia of Gardner; one daughter, Kelly M. Moutsos and her husband Bruce Leban of Bellevue, WA; ; three grandchildren, Gregory, Zachary and Melinda Leban; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Stavros was predeceased by his brother, Konstatinos "Charlie" Moutsos who died in 2007; two sisters, Eleftheria Zogaris and Anastasia Stamatiou; and by two grandsons, Peter S. Moutsos who died in 1999 and Billy S. Moutsos who died in 2002.
Calling hours will be Friday, July 25th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner.
Graveside Services will be held Saturday, July 26th at 11:00 a.m.in Forest Hills Cemetery, Fitchburg .
