Shari Lee Whipple

Shari Lee (Montville) Whipple, 73, of Gardner, died peacefully, Friday, June 10, 2016 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, Worcester, after a long battle with cancer.
She was born at home in October 13, 1942, in Gardner. She was the daughter of the late Charles 'Pete' and Rita (Caouette) Montville.
Shari was a 1960 graduate of Gardner High School. She then received her Bachelor of Education Degree from Fitchburg State College in 1964.
Shari was a teacher at Elm Street School employed by the City of Gardner for several years, until retiring in 2008.
She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and a member of the Retired Teachers Association.
Shari's passions were bowling, writing poetry and calligraphy. She was a voracious reader and was known for her lovely voice singing in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Gardner, where she also served as both a Eucharistic Minister and lector. Shari was an avid participant in the Healing Ministry of Fr. Ralph DiOrio.
Shari leaves her husband of 52 years, Robert S. Whipple; three sons, Matthew R. Whipple and his wife Joanne of Charlton, MA, Richard T. Whipple and his wife Cecilia of Newton, MA, and Aaron R. Whipple and his wife Nicole of Templeton; two sisters, Carol Johnson and her husband Donald of South Dakota, and Heidi Shimp and her husband George of Palm Harbor, FL; four grandchildren, Brendan, Kelsey, Rachel and Rickey; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Carlin and Charles Montville.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 16, 2016 from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., with a mass at 11am in Holy Spirit Church, 50 Lovewell Street, Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner, at a later date.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from 6pm - 8pm.
