Ruth L. (Merriam) Martin, 91, of 37 Shady Lane, Templeton, died Wednesday, November 12th, in the Baldwinville Nursing Home, Baldwinville, surrounded by her family, following a long illness.
Born in Templeton on October 20, 1917, she was the daughter of Charles and Alta (Lund) Merriam.
Ruth was a 1936 graduate of Templeton High School and was a member of First Church of Templeton. She was a member of the Athol and Winchendon Camera Club. Ruth enjoyed sewing, card playing and bicycle riding. She was an avid photographer, and took many photos of local churches.
Her husband of 25 years, Alfred E. Martin, died in 1969.
She leaves 5 sons, Alfred J. Martin and his wife Nancy, James P. Martin, all of Gardner, Dennis L. Martin of Winchendon, Gerald E. Martin and his wife, Bonnie, Lawrence E. Martin and his wife Donna all of Templeton; 2 daughters, Patricia R. Waskiewicz and her husband Michael of Rochester, NH, M. Judith Roy and her husband Ronald of Templeton; one sister-in-law, Shirley Merriam of Shrewsbury; l7 grandchildren, Deborah Seavey, Donald and Dennis Waskiewicz, Doris Gagne, Richard, Wayne, James, Melissa, Dennis Jr., J.P. Martin and Christopher Ryan Martin, Cindy Rahaim, Julie Lachance, Rhonda Andriot, Renee Viviano, Laura L'Heureux, Amy McGann; 35 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Fredrick and Richard Merriam and a sister, Doris Mason.
Funeral services will be held in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner on Wednesday, November 19th at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Baldwinville.
A calling hour in the funeral home will be Wednesday, November 19th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Baldwinville Nursing Home Activity Fund, 51 Hospital Rd., Baldwinville, MA 01436.
