Ruth A. "Ruthie" (O'Hearn) Dubzinski, 90, of 158 Lovewell St., Gardner where she has lived since 1944, died Saturday, May 1st in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, surrounded by her family, following a brief illness.
Born in Medford on March 10, 1920, she was the daughter of John and Margaret (Wilson) O'Hearn.
Mrs. Dubzinski was a nursery school teacher and also a substitute teacher in area schools for 10 years. Ruth and her husband Walter operated the Dubzinski Day Camp for elementary age children at their residence for many years.
She was a 1938 graduate of Medford High School and attended University of Massachusetts, Amherst and Fitchburg State
Teachers' College, Fitchburg.
Ruth was a member of Holy Spirit Church where she was a Greeter. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a loyal friend. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Dubzinski enjoyed reading and going to Cape Cod, especially South Dennis, where she and her husband had a summer home. She was a Girl Scout Leader and a member of the Parent Teachers Association. Ruth was a member of the Gardner Women's Club, a Heywood Hospital Volunteer and a member of the Heywood Hospital Aid Association. She belonged to the Gardner Women's Catholic Club, Holy Family League, the Gardner Women's Literature Club where she was a book reviewer. Mrs. Dubzinski enjoyed movies and theater.
She leaves her husband of 68 years, Walter J. Dubzinski Sr. of Gardner; 2 sons, Walter J. Dubzinski Jr. and his wife Irene of Gardner, John E. Dubzinski and his wife Donna of Leominster; 2 daughters, Pamela M. Bent of Gardner, Anne R. Jasinski and her husband John of Templeton; 9 grandchildren, Michael W. Dubzinski and his wife Erin of Rutland, Kathryn H. McDonald and her husband Peter of Holden, Steven J. Dubzinski of Boston, Jonathan M. Bent of Boston, Courtney A. Winter and her husband Anthony of Boston, John M. Dubzinski and his fiancee, Alyson of Everett, Jane E. Dubzinski of Weehawken, NJ, Kathleen A. Jasinski and Peter J. Jasinski both of Templeton; 9 great-grandchildren, Connor M. Dubzinski of Rutland, Griffin W. , Reagan S. and Tucker S. McDonald, all of Holden, Anne B., Julia R., John F., and Luke M. Winter all of Boston; a dear friend, Jeanette McGillicuddy of Medford; several nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph O'Hearn, 2 sisters, Margaret Shannon and Mary Foresteire, and a son-in-law, C. Frederick Bent III.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 5th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Spirit Church, 50 Lovewell St., Gardner. Burial will be in Greenbower Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday, May 4th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
