Ruth E. (Potter) Chicoine, 96, of 300 Clark St., Gardner, died Sunday, January 22nd in her residence.
Born in Jaffrey, NH on June 4, 1909, she was the daughter of George and Annie (Canahan) Potter.
She was a cook employed by Heywood Hospital for 10 years, until retiring in 1977.
Mrs. Chicoine was a 1926 graduate of Conant High School, Jaffrey, NH. She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church.
She was an artist and she enjoyed playing cards, bingo, writing poetry and was a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox.
Her husband of 53 years, Louis J. Chicoine, died in 1979.
She leaves 2 sons, Norman Chicoine and wife Alice of Templeton, Richard Chicoine of Gardner; 4 daughters, Cecelia G. Grincewicz and husband Frank, Margaret Fields all of Gardner, Annie Boudreau and husband Albert of Winchendon, June Cormier and husband Romeo of Templeton; 1 sister, Vivian Britten of Mount Vernon, NH; a daughter-in-law, Irene Chicoine of Gardner; 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 6 great-greatgrandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son Louis Chicoine Jr., 2 brothers Fredrick and Wilbur Potter, and 3 sisters Ruby Davis, Louise Tremblay and Grace Rousseau.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 26th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner, will be in the Spring.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday, January 25th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
