Russell T. Jones Sr

Russell T."Jug" Jones, Sr., 84 of 15 Greenwood Place, Gardner died Friday, October 15th in his residence following an illness.
Born in Acton, MA on December 29, 1925, he was the son of the late Ralph T. and Mary Ellen (Tobin) Jones.
Russell was a graduate of Acton-Boxborough Regional High School in Acton.
He was part owner/operator of Dee Transportation in Westminster.
Russell was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran and received the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Ribbon.
He enjoyed playing cards, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Doris (Keefe) Jones who died in 1996.
Russell leaves two sons, Russell Jones, Jr of Gardner and Dean Jones of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one daughter with whom he lived, Diane J. Teong of Gardner; seven grandchildren, Jason Jones, Matthew Jones, Jamie Jones, Corey Jones, Eric Teong, Lisa Teong Boucher and Joshua Jones; seven great-grandchildren, Amy Jones, Tim Jones, Nathan Sparrow, Hannah Sparrow, Brandon Jones, Nicholas Jones and Cameron Jones; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by one son, Ralph Jones; one brother, William S. Jones; six sisters, Florence A. Riddle, Mary G. Bradley, Laura U. Hodgkins, Lucy M. Davis, Helen R. Amadio and Martha A. Flaherty; and by one grandson, Jeremy Jones.
A private Graveside Service will be held at the convenience of the family.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gardner Visiting Nursing Association, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440
Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner is handling the arrangements.
