Roy Roger

Roger O. Roy, 75, of 251 Park St., Gardner, died Wednesday, September 27th in the Leo P. LaChance Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, Gardner, following an illness.

Born in Gardner on May 19, 1931, he was the son of Oscar and Melida (LeBlanc) Roy.

Roger was a supervisor employed by Lilly Industrial Coatings of Templeton for 37 years, retiring in 1991.

He was a 1949 graduate of Gardner High School.

Mr. Roy was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, the Napoleon Club, Club 25 and V.F.W. Ovila Case Post 905 of Gardner. He was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed golf and in his younger years, loved playing baseball.

Roger was a Korean War U.S. Navy veteran and received the National Defense Medal and the Navy Occupation Medal.

He leaves his wife of 52 years, Doris E. (Brouillet) Roy of Gardner; 2 daughters, Janet A. Brehio and husband James of Templeton, Patricia M. Handrahan of Holden; 1 granddaughter, Toni L. Telepicak of Leominster; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Edgar "Trigger" Roy of Gardner who died in 2002.

A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, October 2nd at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner, will be at a later date.

There are no calling hours.
