Roy James Folmer, 49 of 1814 Barre Road, Hardwick died unexpectedly Monday, May 16, 2011 in his residence.
Born in Brooklyn, NY on July 1, 1961, he was the son of Edward C. and Alyce (Hussey) Folmer.
Roy graduated from Manchester High School, Manchester, NH with the Class of 1980. He was a Corrections Officer employed by North Central Correctional Institute in Gardner for over 20 years.
He had a natural gift of gab and loved to socialize. He enjoyed dancing, singing, carpentry, yard work, traveling and watching television. He also enjoyed exercising and bodybuilding. He loved his special companion, his dog "Shadoe".
Roy was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1989 to 1999 during which time he received the Army Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, 2nd AWD/Army Commentation Medal, and the NCO Professional Development Ribbon.
Roy leaves his mother, Alyce (Hussey) Folmer of Leominster; one son, Edward R. Folmer of Fitchburg; one daughter, Alyce M. Folmer of Louisville, KY; two brothers, Darren L. Folmer and his wife Theresa of Fitchburg and Dirk Folmer and his wife Laura of Tempe, AZ; one sister, Mary G. Folmer-Sneddon and her husband John of Fitchburg; one sister-in-law, Deborah Folmer of Fitchburg; six nieces, four nephews, several aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves the mother of his children, Mary Anne (Zenker) Folmer of Louisville, KY and his dear friends, Harry Williams, Jr and Kathy R. Williams of Gardner. He was predeceased by one brother, Scott A. Folmer.
Funeral will be held Friday, June 10th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, with a Service and Burial at 10:00 am iin MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday, June 9th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
