Rose M. (LaCount) O'Malley, 79, of Fitchburg, died Sunday, May 8, 2016 in the Golden Living Center of Fitchburg following a long illness.
Born in Randolph, VT on July 9, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Ralph T. and Rose V. (Paquette) LaCount.
Rose graduated from Whitcomb High School of Randolph, VT with the Class of 1954. She received her Associates Degree in 1985 from Mount Wachusett Community College of Gardner.
She was employed by Community Transport Services of Athol as a driver, retiring in 2002. She was previously employed by General Electric Company of Fitchburg.
Rose was a member of St. Martin's Church of Otter River, and a member of the former St. Martin's Woman's Club.
She enjoyed crocheting, reading, playing cards and sewing. Rose loved to square dance and was a member of "Two Hearts as One" square dancing club. She also enjoyed traveling, camping and spending time her family.
Rose leaves her husband and soulmate of 60 years, Bernard J. O'Malley of Fitchburg; one son, Brian J. O'Malley of Marlboro; four daughters, Kathleen M. "Kay" Landry of Gardner, Natalie R. Kendall and her husband Les of Sterling, Emily J. O'Malley of Fitchburg and Patricia "Patsy" Smart and her husband Gary of Fitchburg; one brother, William E. LaCount and his wife Lois of Fox Lake, Illinois; one sister, Effie J. Farnham and her husband Travis G. of Randolph, VT; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey, Nicholas, James, Diana, Gina, Amanda, Brendon and Collin; three great-grandchildren, Hadley, Anthony and Avery; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one sister, Irene M. Hackett; her grandson, Shaun; and great-grandson, Adrian.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 12th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Martin's Church, 248 State Road, Otter River. Burial will be in the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, May 11th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
