Rose A. (Ambrose) (Beaton) Murphy, 99, of Manor on the Hill, Leominster died peacefully Friday, November 4, 2011 in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner following a brief illness.
Born in Gardner on October 7, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Emma (Lacroix) Ambrose.
Prior to retiring in 1998, Rose repaired jewelry for Murphy Jewelers in Fitchburg for 40 years. She was previously employed by Heywood Wakefield of Gardner as a packer for 26 years.
Rose was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Gardner.
Golfing was her passion and she continued playing until she was 87. She was a member of Monoosnock Country Club in Leominster and the Westminster Country Club, Westminster. Rose also enjoyed bowling, tatting, playing cards and winning Bingo.
She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, John P. Murphy, who died in 1999.
She leaves one daughter, Barbara Rose Tanguay and her husband Emil of Gardner; four grandchildren, Brian P. Tanguay and his wife Tina, David A. Tanguay and his wife Nancy, Karen L. Olivari and her husband David and Judith A. Rice and her husband John; six great-grandchildren, Melanie Quercia and her husband Nate, Kurt Tanguay, Ryan Tanguay, Samuel Olivari, Seth Tanguay, and Amanda Tanguay; one great great-grandchild, Lillian Quercia; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three brothers, Jeffrey, Louis and Norman Ambrose; four sisters, Lillian Ethier, Freida Foster, Melina Ambrose and Blanche Ambrose; and by one grandchild, Benjamin Olivari who died in 1985.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 8th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour in the funeral home will be Tuesday, November 8th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
