Ronald L. "Ron" Roy, 87, of 391 Whitney Street, Gardner, died Sunday, January 25, 2015, in his residence following a long illness.
Born in Templeton on April 28, 1927, he was the son of Edgar and Alfreda (Dubois) Roy.
Ronald was a self-employed carpenter prior to retiring in 1989.
He attended Gardner High School, and was a member of Holy Spirit Church.
Roland was a United States WWII Navy Veteran, and received the American Theatre Medal and the Victory Medal.
He enjoyed travelling, fishing and square dancing, and was a member of 2 Hearts as 1 Square Dancing. Ronald especially loved spending time in his home with his family.
He leaves his wife of 65 years, Doreen L. (Anderson)Roy of Gardner; three sons, Michael R. Roy of Gardner, Earl J. Roy and his wife Diana of Ludlow and James D. Royand his wife Christine of Holden; three brothers, Robert Roy of Gardner, Edward Roy and his wife Pat of Phillipston, and Donald Duval and his wife Brenda of Winchendon; two sisters, Leah Chartier of Gardner, and Annette Grenier of Westminster; six grandchildren, Amy McArthur and her husband Ryan, Melissa McRobbie and her husband Brian, Adria Roy, Hannah Galvin and her husband Justin, Rebecca Razin and her husband Brian, and Matthew Roy; ten great-grandchildren, Aiden, Meghan, Abigail, Nathaniel, Elijah, Christopher, Shane, Jessica, Anna, and Madison; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Robert A. Roy and by his brother, Ralph Roy.
Funeral Services with be held Friday, January 30th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Spirit Church, 50 Lovewell Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour will be held Friday, January 30th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
