Ronald J.A."Ron" Charland

Ronald J.A. "Ron" Charland, 74, of Winchendon, died Friday, June 12th in Heywood Hospital, Gardner following a brief illness.
Born in Fitchburg on March 13, 1941, he was the son of the late Aurele E. and Doris Y. (Rochon) Charland.
He attended Gardner High School of Gardner and was a member of Holy Cross Church of Templeton. He was Past District Deputy of the Masons.
Ron was a United States Army Veteran.
He was a machinist who owned and operated A P Machine Company, Inc. of Templeton.
Ron enjoyed woodworking, playing solitaire on his computer, taking road trips, watching the History channel on television and he enjoyed many trips to Scotland. Ron loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Joan C. (Pendergrast) Charland of Templeton; one son, Al Charland of Templeton; two daughters, Kimberly Charland-Mustakangas of Baldwinville and Kelly Henshaw and her husband Rob of Templeton; two sisters, Elaine Hietala and her husband George of Ashburnham and Alice Allain and her husband Robert of Orange; five grandchildren, Luke L. Fletcher, Brook Charland Fletcher, Josiah A. Henshaw, Julia R. Henshaw and Vivienne Charland Henshaw; three nieces, Laurie, Keary and Lisa; one nephew, Kenneth and a very special person, Sanae. He also leaves his beloved dachshund Barney "Googie". Ron was predeceased by his brother, PFC Roger O. Charland who was killed in Vietnam in 1968; son-in-law, Randy Mustakangas; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Ryder Charland.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 17th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, 25 Lake Avenue, Templeton. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Templeton.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, June 16th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
