Romeo Richard

July 17, 1917 — June 30, 2006

Romeo Richard, 88, of 295 Pleasant St., Gardner, died Friday, June 30th surrounded by his family in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, following a short illness.

Born in St. Ann de Kent, NB, Canada on July 17, 1917, he was the son of Francois and Marianne (Bastarache) Richard.

He was a bridge construction worker employed by Ward-Weller Co. of Hudson for 13 years until retiring in 1980. He was previously employed by the former Thayer Mfg. Co. of Gardner for several years.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. Mr. Richard was a member of the Acadien Social Club since l947, was a member of the Otter River Sportsman Club and the Canadien Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, watching hockey and playing cards.

Romeo was a member of the Canadien Armed Forces from 1944 to 1945.

He leaves his wife of 57 years, Dorilla (LeBlanc) Richard; two sons, David R. Richard and wife Janice, Real Belliveau all of Gardner; 2 daughters, Joanne McCrillis and husband Daniel of Otter River, Joyce M. LaBonte and husband Steven of Gardner; 2 sisters, Corinne Richard of Bouctouche, NB, Canada, Jeanne Gillespie of Salem; 6 grandchildren, Scott Belliveau, Ryan McCrillis, Erin Warren, Jeffrey LaBonte, Chelsea and Brittany Richard; 2 great-grandchildren, J.J. Warren and Spencer McCrillis; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Elmo, Jean-Eudes and Leandre Richard and 3 sisters, Marion Dion, Germaine Lavoie, and Rosette (Guerrette) Landry.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 5th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday, July 4th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
