Roland S. Marion

Roland S. Marion, 89, of 116 Church St., Gardner died Tuesday, January 18th in the Athol Hospital following an illness.
Born in Gardner on February 2, 1915 he was the son of Alexis and Rosanna (Jolly) Marion.
He was an assembler employed by Gem Industries of Gardner for 29 years until retiring in 1978.
Mr. Marion was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church and its League of Sacred Heart Society. He was also a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 747 of Gardner.
He was a Red Sox fan and enjoyed reading world history books.
He was a World War II U.S. Air Force Veteran and received the Good Conduct Medal and the American Theater Campaign Ribbon.
His wife, Pauline (Cormier) Marion died in 1979.
He leaves a dear friend, Tanya Moore of Royalston, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 20th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour at the funeral home will be Thursday, January 20th from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Rosary Church Renovation Fund, 135 Nichols St., Gardner, MA 01440.
