Roland R. St. Laurent, 68, of Leominster, formerly of Gardner and Pinellas Park, FL, died peacefully, Monday, January 5, 2015 in Valley Stream Rehab and Nursing Center of Fitchburg, following a long illness.
Born in Gardner on September 25, 1946, he was the son of the late Romeo and Lucy (Therrien) St. Laurent.
Roland graduated from Gardner High School of Gardner with the Class of 1966.
He was a United States Vietnam War Marine Corps Veteran and received the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one star, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, Good Conduct Medal, Navy Unit Citation and RVN Cross of Gallantry with palm and frame.
He was employed for 35 years by Digital Equipment Corporation as a Product Auditor, retiring in 2005.
Roland was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner.
He enjoyed traveling, golfing, bowling and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.
Roland was a member of the Acadien Social Club of Gardner, American Legion Post 129 of Gardner and the V.F.W. Ovila Case Post 905 of Gardner.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Denise A. (Robichaud) St. Laurent, who died November 27, 2006.
Roland leaves one daughter, Dr. Karen St. Laurent and her husband James McGrath of Worcester; one son, Philip Mailloux and his wife Kathleen of Rutland; two brothers, Andrew St. Laurent and his wife Joyce of Gardner and Roger St. Laurent and his wife Linda of Otter River; one sister, Claire Sirois and her husband Roland of Old Orchard Beach, Maine; two grandchildren, Davin McGrath and Emily Mailloux; his former wife, Georgette (Martin) (St. Laurent) Cyr; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 15th from the Boucher Funeral Home, 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Road, Winchendon.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, January 15th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
