Roland J"Peton" Gallant

Roland J. "Peton" Gallant, 83, of Gardner, died suddenly Monday, March 21, 2016 in Heywood Hospital of Gardner, after being stricken ill home.
Born in Rumford, Maine on April 6, 1932, he was the son of the late Joseph O. and Catherine (Daigle) Gallant.
Roland graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1952.
He was a United States Korean War Air Force Veteran and received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
He was employed by the Templeton Developmental Center as a cook for 10 years, retiring in 1998. He was previously the owner/operator of Gallant Furniture of Gardner for many years.
Roland was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner.
He was an avid bowler, enjoyed playing cribbage and loved going to Boothbay Harbor, Maine. Roland was a friend of Bill W.
He leaves his wife Claudette Gallant of Gardner; four sons, Steven H. Gallant of Southbridge, MA, Mark R. Gallant of Gardner, Daniel J. Gallant of North Attleboro and David A. Gallant of Gardner; two daughters, Vickie L. Crockett and her husband William of Baldwinville, Julie A. LaRoche and her husband Edward of S. Ashburnham; eight grandchildren, Corey Taylor, Amy Talor, Lindsey LaRoche, Abbi LaRoche, Ryan Gallant, Vanessa Gallant, Brooke Gallant and Jared Gallant; three great-grandchildren, Lynn, Maggie and Samuel Taylor; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by four brothers, Emile, Benoit, Edmond and Gerard Gallant.
Funeral Services and burial will be held Friday, April 1st at 1:00 p.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
Calling hours will be held Friday, April 1st from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner.
