Roland H"Rolly" Dorais

Roland Herve "Rolly" Dorais, 95, of 125 Connors Street, Gardner, formerly of Center Street, Ashburnham, died Monday, August 3, 2015 in his residence surrounded by family, following a brief illness.
He was born in Gardner on April 16, 1920, the son of the late Armand and Valeda (Fleurant) Dorais.
Roland was truck driver employed by Seaman Paper Company of Otter River for 25 years, retiring in 1982. He was previously employed by Florence Stove Company of Gardner and Heywood Wakefield Company of Gardner.
He was a United States WWII Marine Corps Veteran and received the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the Rifle Marksman.
Roland was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. He was also a member of the Gardner Chapter of AARP, VFW Post 905 Ovila Case of Gardner and the American Legion Thomas P. Sweeney Post 142 of Ashburnham.
He enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and traveling. He was also an avid sports fan of the New England teams and he treasured spending time with his family.
Roland was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Lena (Campana) Dorais, who died January 12, 2013.
He leaves two daughters, Jeanne Blake of Gardner and Joanne Kennedy and her husband David of Rochdale, MA; four grandchildren, Rebecca Leger, Tracey Swenson, Lori Ziobrowski and Scott Blake; four great-grandchildren, Noah Leger Justin Blake, Evan Blake and Anthony Andino; one nephew, Paul Dorias; and several cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Leo Dorais.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 7, 2015 from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
A calling hour will be held Friday, August 7th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Academy, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA 01440 or to the Gardner Visiting Nursing Association, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440.
