Roland H. Cormier, 80, of 175 Nichols St., Gardner, died peacefully Friday, December 30th in the Leo P. LaChance Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing, Gardner, following an illness.
Born in Gardner on December 23, 1925, he was the son of Edgar and Laudia (Richard) Cormier.
He was a service manager employed by the Selig Mfg. Co. of Leominster for 12 years, retiring in 1984. He was previously employed by the Hale Co. of E. Arlington, VT and the Thayer Mfg. Co. of Gardner.
He was a 1946 graduate of Oblate Fathers College, Natick, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Assumption College in 1948 and studied at the Gregorian University of Rome.
Roland was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. He enjoyed golfing and baseball.
His wife of 52 years, Grace O. (Royer) Cormier, died in 2002.
He leaves 2 sons, Eugene C. Cormier of Tennessee, James G. Cormier of Bradford, VT; 1 daughter, Elaine T. Curtin and husband James of Stoughton; 1 brother, Richard Cormier of Orwell, VT; 4 sisters, Doris Prinn, Ann Roberts, Madeleine Melanson all of Gardner and Therese Violette of Templeton; 3 granddaughters, Alexandra, Kathryn and Michaela Curtin all of Stoughton; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a daughter Marcella C. Cormier of Climax, NC and a sister, Lorraine Healy of Gardner.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 2nd from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday, January 2nd from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
