Roland J. Cloutier

March 24, 1919 — May 11, 2006

Roland J. Cloutier, 87, of 64 Regan St., Gardner, died Thursday, May 11th in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner, following a long illness.

Born in Rumford, ME on March 24, 1919, he was the son of Louis and Lea (Brochu) Cloutier.

Roland was a sander employed by S. Bent Bros. Co. of Gardner for 21 years until retiring in 1984.

He was a 1936 graduate of Mexico, ME High School. He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. He was also a member of V.F.W. Ovila Case Post 905 of Gardner and A.A.R.P. He loved animals, enjoyed gardening, liked to barbecue and enjoyed sports, particularly the New York Yankees. He coached Little League and won the Championship in 1962.

He was a WW II U.S. Army Veteran and received the Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon and the American Defense Service Medal.

He leaves his wife of 63 years, Christine Y. (Gagne) Cloutier of Gardner; 2 sons, Thomas J. Cloutier and wife Donna of Glendale, AZ, William P. Cloutier and wife Patricia of Chicago, IL; 4 grandchildren, Aaron Tice, Ethan, Danielle and Benjamin Cloutier; 3 great-greatgrandchildren, Blake and Carter Cloutier, Ella Tice; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by 3 sisters, Jeannette Roy, Theresa Boucher and Rita Coulombe.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 15th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday, May 14th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
