Roland P. Bourgeois, 73, of 47 Racette Ave., Gardner died Friday, July 16th in UMASS Medical Center, Worcester, following an illness.
Born in Gardner on April 20, 1931, he was the son of Alfred J. and Anna R. (St.Pierre) Bourgeois.
He was a salesman last employed by LaChance Furniture Co. of Gardner for 15 years, retiring in 1995. He was previously an upholsterer employed by the former Bettez & LaRoche Co. of Gardner for 35 years.
He was a 1949 graduate of Gardner High School.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church and served on its Finance Committee, Spiritual Life Committee and Couple to Couple Ministry. He was also a Eucharistic Minister and a member of Ultreya.
Mr. Bourgeois enjoyed reading and watching football and baseball.
He was a U.S. Air Force Korean War Veteran and received the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
He leaves his wife of 45 years, Gloria C. (Charland) Bourgeois of Gardner; 2 sons, Brian P. Bourgeois of Gardner, Kenneth R. and his wife Kari Bourgeois of Tomball, TX; 2 daughters, Lynne M. and her husband Michael McKellick of Winchendon, Celeste M. Bourgeois of Gardner and
her fiance, Mark Burdett; 1 brother Donald A. Bourgeois and his wife Virginia of Gardner; 1 sister, Therese Chapdelaine of Lunenburg; 5 grandchildren, Nicholas Bourgeois of Merrimack, NH, Katie and Sarah McKellick of Winchendon, Nicole and Nathan Bourgeois of Gardner; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 20th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday, July 19th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Rosary School or to Holy Rosary Organ Fund, 135 Nichols St., Gardner, MA 01440.
