Roger A. Lajoie

Roger A. Lajoie, 90, of 629 Salisbury Street, Worcester, formerly of Central Street and Jean Street, Gardner, died peacefully Sunday, March 18, 2012 in the Jewish Healthcare Center, Worcester, surrounded by his family.
Born in Gardner on January 12, 1922, he was the son of the late Wilbrod and Flore (Benoit) Lajoie.
Roger graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1940. During his high school years, he was the Manager of the baseball and basketball teams.
He was an Insurance Salesman for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Gardner for 30 years, retiring in 1992. He later worked for Bank of America in Gardner for 5 years.
Roger was a United States WWII Army Veteran and received the Good Conduct Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Victory Medal and the American Theater Campaign Ribbon.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner and it's St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 905 of Gardner.
Roger enjoyed golfing, reading and traveling to York, Maine. He especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Jeannette B. (Dery) Lajoie, who died April 7, 2009.
He leaves three daughters, Janine T. Bebas and her husband John of West Boylston, Denise A. Bratkon and her husband Vince of Worcester and Paulette L. Leger and her husband James of Rindge, NH; one sister, Judith A. Lajoie of Gardner; six grandchildren, Julie Offord, Nick Bebas, Christina Bebas, Stephanie LaCroix, Jennifer Jones and Michelle Leger; six great-grandchildren, Michael Offord, Shelby Offord, Sierra LaCroix, Allison Lind, Jonathan Lind and Joshua Bebas; nine nieces and nephews and several cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 23rd from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours in the funeral home will be Thursday, March 22nd from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
